About  [Edit]

Why Wisconsin Family Forests?

Woodlands of Wisconsin
Although they own the majority of forest land in Wisconsin, most private forest land owners do not receive any type of forest management assistance. Consequently, many do not realize the benefits of forest ownership, and perhaps are unaware of the full potential of their forests.

Desired Outcome
Both landowners and the forests benefit when forests are managed sustainably. Benefits from well-managed forests include periodic income, enhanced recreational opportunities, and improved wildlife habitat. Landowners that realize the full benefits from their woodlands are more likely to protect their lands from development and maintain them for future generations. This provides long-term aesthetic values and related benefits to not only the landowner, but also to the community.

The Wisconsin Family Forest Approach
Wisconsin Family Forests (WFF) was organized to support private landowners that are interested in learning and applying the concepts of sustainable forestry. WFF consists of neighborhood alliances of local forest landowners that share their experiences and pool their needs for professional assistance and additional knowledge. Through local alliances that focus on sustainable forestry practices, neighbors work with neighbors, strengthening community connections and improving the management of local natural resources.
