About  [Edit]

pResilience is a networking effort beginning with my curiosity about the lack of collaborative social activity around local climate adaptation. Here's the question behind my curiosity:

Why aren't existing locally-based green/environmental groups doing a better job of consolidating their efforts and working with local governmental entities to prepare for the drastic changes that lie ahead of us?

pResilience is about making local communities more resilient in advance of the actual impacts of climate change. At this time, it's simply about making contacts and educating myself so that I can better understand the obstacles to the social coordination that should be taking place. I'm doing this, first, in Marin County, California, USA - a location that should be one of the most tractable situations for building a model of collaborative adaptation.

One good starting point would be to join the forces of Transition Towns, Post-carbon communities, sustainable living activists, green businesses and progressive local government agencies and leaders in communication and planning. For if we can get a critical mass of local citizens mobilized, we can begin living now as we may have to learn how to live in the future.

Hopefully by next year this time, pResilience will have achieved some kind of lift-off.
