About [Edit]
Empowering downtrodden women through livelihood projects
To start with “Amber Charkha Spinners Women” were gathered and AMBA was formed with the objective of uplifting the poor women through Economic Empowerment.
Bhanuben was one of those women from Visheswar Nagar, Rajkot, who earned their living by selling petty household items. She used to hire a handcart at the rate of US $0.21 per to carry her mobile shop. After paying her daily hiring charges, she was left with very little to support her family expenses.
Bhanuben became a member of AMBA and shared her problem with her fellow members.AMBA provided her with a free brand new handcart and also provided her with a loan to buy cutlery and household items. She found it very helpful as she started making decent profits out of it. She requested for another cart for her husband and AMBA provided it.
Today, both Bhanuben and her husband have their own mobile shops. They are doing quite well in their small business. Bhanuben has infact started saving US $1 a week in the saving account she has opened with AMBA.
