Craigslist Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. We produce events and online resources that help emerging nonprofit leaders:
- Get established
- Gain visibility
- Develop the skills and knowledge required for long-term success
- Connect with peers, potential supporters and valuable industry resources
We do not fund, consult nor promote individual organizations. Instead, we produce and highlight resources that benefit as many organizations as possible and strengthen civil society as a whole.
Think of us as a community catalyst –creating and promoting resources to help leaders contribute real value to our community.
Helping People Help
Founded in 2000 by Craig Newmark and others, Craigslist Foundation (www.craigslistfoundation.org) is a publicly supported, non-endowed 501(c)3 operating foundation (i.e. not a grantmaking institution). Just as craigslist.org is about 'people helping people' by facilitating online connections, Craigslist Foundation creates community in the nonprofit arena by 'helping people help', regardless of cause or sector. We are uniquely positioned to support nonprofits by providing free and low cost education opportunities to emerging nonprofit leaders and social entrepreneurs, thereby fulfilling our mission of "Providing knowledge, resources and visibility to the next generation of nonprofit leaders."
Empower. Connect. Transform
We don't take sides. Our mission is to empower and help people connect. As a neutral community catalyst, Craigslist Foundation plays an invaluable role in the non-profit community by helping:
- Introduce budding leaders to the landscape of possible partners and valuable support resources
- Produce events and resources to train and empower the next generation of nonprofit leaders and social entrepreneurs
- Connect leaders with the peers, potential supporters and resources their organizations need to succeed
- Create networks in specific non-profit sectors that facilitate collaboration and information sharing among like-minded organizations and the government agencies and corporations that impact their sector.
