About [Edit]
Cylch is an umbrella organisation, formed in 1997 to promote sustainable resource management through education and practical action in Wales. Cylch promotes and supports partnership-led, community-based, sustainable resource management initiatives as the practical and effective solutions to Welsh waste problems. Cylch views waste materials as valuable resources, which, if managed effectively, create environmental, social and economic benefits for individuals and the communities in which they live.
Cylch is a Membership organisation, providing information, resources, representation, advocacy, training, events, support and advice [general and funding], project involvement and PR/marketing expertise to all Members.Cylch is at the heart of designing policies within Wales that will encourage and affect the growth of the community-recycling sector. Cylch represents its Members at a strategic level in areas affecting them, such as: sustainability policy, the development of the social economy and waste policy in Wales. Nationally and through it’s partnership with the Community Recycling Network UK [CRN UK], Cylch consults on national and European targets and legislation.
Aims and objectives:
-to promote sustainable resource management through education and practical action
-to position the community sector centrally as an equal partner in the future of resource management in Wales
-to ensure free exchange of information between member organisations
-to support new and existing waste minimisation, re-use, recycling and composting projects, enabling them to achieve financial independence through delivering high quality services
