About [Edit]
The mission of Middle Ground Prison Reform is to promote a more balanced approach to correctional policies and practices, with particular attention paid to public education, legislative advocacy and litigation to protect and define the civil and constitutional rights and responsibilities of prisoners and their supporters/families. We do not feel that prisons should be more luxurious; we believe they can be much more effective.
The current trend is for punishment; period. This is counterproductive, especially since the vast majority of today's prisoner's will someday be our neighbors. Middle Ground acts as a watchdog agency over Arizona's state prison system, the county jails, and the Board of Executive Clemency. We provide legal and paralegal services (some fees involved) for inmates and their families, conduct training seminars, make referrals to social service agencies. We are funded entirely by private donations, and appreicate the kind support of all those who support our efforts.
