Ecoliteracy in Action

We are members and friends of Esalen Institute's month long legacy/workscholar group, Ecoliteracy in Action. We explore what it means to embody the science of Sustainability, the art of Permaculture, and the culture and economics of the Transition Movement. With heart, soul and love we will share what we know and discover new possibilities together.

About  [Edit]

Our Mission

The California Coalition for Food and Farming`s mission is to build and mobilize a diverse coalition that will transform California`s food system to one that is environmentally sound, socially just, and economically viable.

The California Coalition for Food and Farming, founded in 1994, is an active network dedicated to promoting a sustainable and socially just food system. The California Coalition for Food and Farming`s member organizations include farm, environmental, consumer, farmworker, and other groups.

California Coalition for Food and Farming provides a unique and powerful forum for collaborative action, policy advocacy, and information exchange. We have a successful track record in forging links between diverse constituencies and winning policy changes that increase support for organic and sustainable agriculture. We have a six-year history of bringing leaders from diverse organizations to the table to pursue our common agenda.

Constituencies benefiting from California Coalition for Food and Farming activities include farmers [primarily sustainable and family-scale], farmworkers, rural residents, consumers, and environmentalists. In addition to our member organizations, California Coalition for Food and Farming works closely with leading regional and national organizations, including: the National Campaign for Sustainable Agriculture, the Community Food Security Coalition, the regional SAWGs, the Consortium for Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education, and Californians for Pesticide Reform.
