Edmonds Community College, Lynnwood, WA, is a two-year public college accredited by the Northwest Commission of Colleges and Universities, serving 19,000 students annually. The college offers the first two years of a four-year degree; bachelor’s degree completion via local and online university partnerships; career-training degrees and certificates in business, technology and human services; and online degrees and certificates.
Sustainability is one of the college’s strategic initiatives and was recently added to the college’s philosophy which now reads, “Edmonds Community College is a community of learners, which upholds integrity and high educational standards and affirms the value of lifelong learning and sustainability.”
The college is a member of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.
A few of the sustainability projects on campus include participating in the development of Curriculum for the Bioregion with the Washington Center at Evergreen State College, service-learning projects in partnership with local environmental organizations, grounds/recycling projects and the inclusion of many sustainable elements in the college’s master plan.
