About ALC

American Land Conservancy [ALC] is a national non-profit organization that protects land for the benefit of people and wildlife. We work in partnership with communities, private landowners, local land trusts and public land agencies to find effective conservation solutions for threatened natural resources.

ALC uses real estate techniques such as land acquisition, conservation easements, and the acquisition of water rights, grazing leases or other interests in land. Since 1990, ALC has preserved over 220,000 acres from Maine to Alaska.

Over the course of our work, ALC has developed several long-term programs that focus on the preservation of certain natural landscapes, including.

* California Central Coast

* Sierra Nevada Rangelands

* Lake Tahoe Basin

* Middle Mississippi River [Illinois and Missouri]

* Klamath River Basin
