"Beshara is about our essential connection to the Real.
And (our connection to the Real), is what this education is about
that goes under the name of Beshara; our essential connection to Reality.
Such as we have never been separated and that there is nothing whatsoever in between,
or could possibly get in between this essential connection.
We are connected in Being and we are connected
in our Consciousness."
"We come to understand in this education that the most important thing is to be as constantly aware as possible to this essential connection, so that we spend our waking life in, as far as possible, awareness of it. And, to remember that we’re not what we thought we were... it’s never like we think. And that there is a possibility of waking up permanently and that this is what this education is for. That the human being is a spiritual being - it’s unavoidable. And… that if we’re unaware of our spiritual nature and our spiritual purpose, then of course, things go wrong and what is intrinsically good news takes the appearance of bad news… and things start going awry…And this is necessarily so because the exterior world is for us like a mirror which shows us very accurately what’s going on with ourselves and with our own, as we say, facing of Reality."
Peter Young, Principal. An extract from his opening address at the annual Gathering, August 2008 at Chisholme House, home of The Beshara School at the Chisholme Institute inthe Scottish Borders.

Courses of the Beshara School are concerned solely with the knowledge of the essential unity of all existence, by way of knowing one’s own reality. This knowledge lies at the heart of all spiritual traditions and approaches to truth, and yet is not confined to any of them; consequently the Beshara School is open to students of any nationality or background, irrespective of creed.Courses are all-inclusive and fully residential, and comprise a balanced programme of study, work, meditation and spiritual practice. They range from a weekend to six months.Six-month courses, which have been running since 1975, begin on 1st October each year. Shorter courses run throughout the year, and visitors are welcome at any time.Chisholme House, the home of the school, is a Georgian country house and estate set in the vibrant beauty of the Scottish Borders.

Andrew Thorne talks about his experience of his 9-day course at the Beshara School in Scotland, June 2009. "The most important thing has been coming to really feel and know that Love is everything... ...that I'm part of something which makes me feel less isolated and less stuck with myself... ... I think it's easy to fall into patterns of feeling like "I'm alone", or "there are forces working against me", but it's kind of "me", like my own ego perception of the world... I need to kind of allow that to subside and realize that things are good... the way they should be..." |

The
spiritual life is the real life-all else is illusion and deception.
Only those who are attached to god alone are truly free. Only those who
live up to the highest light they have find their lives in harmony.
Those who act on their highest motivations become a power for good. It
is not important that others be sought or desired. Know that every
right thing you do-every good word you say-every positive thought you
think-has good effect. For me its real and wiserearth meaning.

The Symposium seemed to raise a Bubbling Energy, a wave of hope and goodwill. Thank you all for allowing me to participate, to be open to the heart and to be honest. I really enjoyed those three days at Chisholm. May great things come from these new beginnings and many Symposiums happen in the future as Beshara emerges more into the Light world-wide.
