About  [Edit]

KLARITY was founded in 1993-- by designer, artist, writer, singer, songwriter, Earth builder, EcoArts teacher Claire Kellerman-- to inspire, design & create Peace on Earth personally, locally and globally through Art, Music and Earth Art & Architecture hand-built Homes.

Since then, Earth Art & Architecture home building techniques have been shared in KLARITY Earth Art Workshops in festivals and at ecovillages all over the world, spreading the technology of Nader Khalili and his California Earth Art & Architecture Research site in Hesperia, California.

Earth Architecture lead naturally to Permaculture Design which lead to teaching adults and children in clay models, creating entire towns, islands and villages in clay models illustrating Permaculture Design principles.

KLARITY workshops given locally in Santa Barbara, Topanga, and Santa Monica, then globally in Australia, New Zealand, Scotland, Italy, etc., lead to a Permaculture Design project on the the Big Island with The Resonance Project, and then a move to Maui lead to writing stories about Permaculture for The Haleakala Times, a local paper, and that "started a movement" as the Editor said, and with just a teeny hint in a story that "The MPN Meets monthly," The Maui Permaculture Network was born in April 2006, bringing together a community of passionate experienced and brand new farmers, builders, business owners & families interested in community, and in learning Permaculture together. 80 enthusiastic people showed up for the second gathering of The MPN!

The Maui Permaculture Network now offers KLARITY EcoArts classes at The Temple of Peace Healing Sanctuary in Haiku, on Maui (tophs.org), introducing children to EcoArts in clay model workshops and "talking story," introducing adults to the ethics, principles, and zones of PCD, including Zone Zero, the body, learning about Inner Permaculture through The Body Ecology Diet. We offer slideshows, films, hands-on farm and garden workshops and clay model workshops as well on our 3-acre Maluhia Aina Farm and Peace Gardens, where an 84' labyrinth made of food beds is in deep progress next to a heart-shaped pond, and a 54' grassy wedding circle is growing in ring of fruiting vines and fragrant blooms under the shade of ancient eucalyptus trees.

KLARITY EcoArts Workshops now include a 7-class series beginning with the body and expanding through the zones of home, garden/yard, farm, edge, the wild, and expanding to include community and global aspects of Permaculture Design with inspiring demonstrations and examples.

Since 1989, the purpose and intention of KLARITY has been to learn and live my way to writing a story and songs that illustrate in a film a roadmap of Peace on Earth, One Woman's Vision of a Global Collaboration. This is currently my Masters of Science project in Integrative EcoSocial Design for Gaia University. All is thriving!

Aloha from Maui, Claire           January 28, 2009
