About  [Edit]

Project `Ananya` was conceived by a group of people to establish a unique school in Bangalore , India for children who have nothing to look forward to, except a life of poverty and degradation. These children are denied education either because they do not conform to the standards laid down by society or because they do not meet the rigid criteria set by the mainstream schools. Quite often these children themselves reject the regular schools because they find nothing meaningful or relevant for them.

Ananya Trust was registered on March 8, 1998 as a charitable trust under the Society`s Registration Act of Indian law

Ananya`s school started functioning in 1998 and has 50 children on its rolls today . The school operates from its campus called `Shibumi` situated at Konanakunte, 18 kilometers from the city of Bangalore, India .

MISSION

- To provide the best education to the children who are rejected by society, in an atmosphere where teachers can innovate and create a unique learning environment for these children.

- To train individuals interested in working with these children to make the learning experience a more enjoyable experience for the children

Goals

- To increase the number of children from the under privilaged sections of society, who graduate from high school .

- To decrease the school drop out rate among street and slum children.

- To provide vocational training to those children who are unable to or do not want to go beyond high school.

- To increase the number of teachers who are sensitive to social , emotional and academic needs of such children
