About  [Edit]

The Environmental Careers Organization (ECO) is the country's leading environmental careers development organization.

Our Mission

ECO's mission is to protect and enhance the environment through the development of diverse leaders, the promotion of careers, and the inspiration of individual action. ECO accomplishes this through internships, career advice, publications and research.

The Environmental Careers Organization operates a collection of programs in collaboration with a number of federal agencies, corporations, nonprofits, and state and local governments. Learn more about each of ECO's program areas.

FEDERAL PROGRAMS

ECO works with a wide variety of federal agencies to create placement programs within their organizations. From field work and research to community outreach and program management, Associates get hands-on experience and contribute to the mission and goals of the sponsoring agency.

CORPORATE PROGRAMS

Companies across the nation utilize the expertise of ECO Associates in completing vital projects. Associates in turn learn much needed job skills and begin creating networks with professionals in their field.

STATE & LOCAL PROGRAMS

Agencies across the country, from Florida to Montana to Maine fund projects within their agencies for ECO Associates. These agencies hire as few as one or two Associates or as many as twenty or thirty in a year.

NONPROFIT PROGRAMS

ECO works with national, regional and 'grassroots' nonprofit organiztions and foundations to create placement opportunities on behalf of the public good.

LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS

ECO has created issue driven leadership programs which integrate specific environmental issues with leadership training and the internship experience.
