About  [Edit]

Sustainable Marin produces educational events and community forums that inspire sustainability in Marin County and its environs.

Working with allied groups, our grassroots agenda includes

* rapid reduction of global warming pollutants and toxics

* support of green business programs

* new green building codes

* energy efficiency measures

* clean, reliable, renewable power;

* local power and community choice electricity aggregation

* affordable housing

* healthful, locally grown, organic foods

Sustainable Marin is part of a family of sustainability groups that have sprung up in response to awareness that short-term business-as-usual can't suffice. We are looking ahead and designing a future that makes sustainability a political and economic priority.

We are advocates of aggressive policies and practices to sustain our natural environmental assets; foster local economic independence; expand locally owned green businesses and jobs; and encourage mutual understanding, civic cooperation and social justice.

"Sustain" means to stay the course and survive over the long term. Sustainability is our capability to live well and improve our quality of life today and for generations to come.
