Prime purpose of the Society is the direct promotion of dragonfly research and dragonfly protection. For realization of these purposes the IDF forms priority projects, which in the opinion of the Society need particular promotion. Promotion according to the Statute is limited to following measures:



- Research activities in theoretical and applied areas, provided they are of outstanding importance for odonatology;

- Measures concerning biotope and species protection, provided they are of supraregional significance for the protection of dragonflies;
