About [Edit]
A SINGLE DROP (ASD) is a humanitarian non-profit organization that seeks simple creative solutions to promote social action specifically around water issues and encourage environmental water stewardship to cultivate peace. Through technological trainings, community development programs and interactive presentations and performances, ASDs goal is to raise awareness to proactively address global freshwater issues.
A Single Drop is based on the concept that "it takes a single drop of water to start a wave" on person to create social change. Merging action and advocacy, ASD uses music to promote water as a source of peace and unity. ASDs landmark projects, the WE RISE Million Voice Choir unites people globally to raises water awareness, and BRINGING PEOPLE H2OPE SafeWater for All People, helps build independent and self-sufficient people's organizations to become local water education and training centers to address their own water issues efficiently and sustainably. In 2004, it's first year, A Single Drop mobilized over 100 cities in over 60 countries to join in the Million Voice Choir global peace songfest! The Million Voice Choir's purpose bridges cultures worldwide, creating a worldwide experience for people to see and feel the magnitude of a simple action as its effects ripple outward.
ASD SafeWater for All People Strategy: Teach a person to fish, teach them to have a fishing business with practices that will ensure that their children and future generations can fish in the same river! A Single Drop mentors People’s Organizations to become income-generating Water Education Training Centers so the community can address their own water issues efficiently and sustainably. In 2006, the first year's launch of SafeWater for All People, ASD established it's first regional office Asia and impacted over 16,000 people with safe water in the conflict, disaster, and marginalized areas in the Philippines. ASD is currently mentoring a full staff of Philippine Nationals to become a national and regional Asian center of water expertise that is self-sustaining and replicable. ASD will open another regional office in Africa in 2008. ASDs Women WaterKeepers Program was also initiated in the Philippines and will be expanding to Africa in 2008. This program empowers women to reclaim their traditional role as water keepers by ensuring they have the education and technologies to resolve their own water issues.
