About  [Edit]

The Coalition for the Global Commons is in the early stages of communications in search of our first round of partners. These organizations and individuals will be uploading the initial policy papers, essays, articles, educational materials, art, media ...various forms of ideas... for an integrated global platform for a peaceful, just and sustainable world, all developed openly for the world to see on our wiki-based website.

View the Coalition for the Global Commons website: www.global-commons.org
On these pages, you will see a new path for resolving the issues that beset our world – a path that will employ the wisdom of thousands of organizations and individuals from every part of the globe.

Until now, there has been no way to bring our voices together.  Citizens of the world, both rich and poor, who know something about how to address poverty, hunger, sustainable agriculture, energy, the environment, governance and world finance, among other issues, have had no forum in which to discuss our interdependent problems.

This is such a forum. On this website, we invite everyone – whether you belong to a village or a church,  a civil society organization or a corporation, whether you live in the North or the South, the East or the West, whether you work as an expert or simply know a lot – we invite all of you to speak here, to tell your story.  At the end of two years we will have the beginnings of a collective wisdom that can guide us in making new policy for our home on this planet.

The Global Commons Action Plan you will see beginning on this site is a work in progress.  It is a single draft document that will continually evolve with new information.  In two years time, once we have integrated the input from our early partners and sought commentary and input from subsequent rounds of inquiry, the final draft will be taken to an international conference in 2010 where we will seek consensus on new policies for a besieged world.

We should all be concerned about the precarious situation of the planet earth including its inhabitants. Commonplace in our world are disasters and calamities both artificial and man-made. Poverty, hunger and preventable diseases just as wars of blame are taking their tolls on daily basis especially in developing countries. Something drastic should be done to salvage the situation. It is the responsibility of all to make planet earth worthliving and habitable for all and sundry and especially addressing the plight of the poor and disadvantaged.

Thus, I am encouraging us all to join the Coalition for the Global Commons in any part of the globe we find ourselves. Together we can put an end to hunger, starvation, diseases, wars, bad governance etc and make the planet Earth habitable for us all to live in.
