Chileda Foundation
Chileda started on June 16, 1973 with four kids, one staff member, and lots of ideas, recalls Heidel.Mission
All children and young adults receiving supports from Chileda will develop skills in functional adaptive behaviors that lead toward successful community involvement.purpose
- Supports mean any level of service provided by Chileda: residential, vocational, respite, outreach, evaluation, day school, summer school and emergency care.- Functional adaptive behaviors include: self-help, self-determination, community use, academic, communication, vocational, leisure, home living and social skills.
- Community involvement is the interaction of persons in living, socializing, recreating and working environments.
We teach children and young adults with developmental disabilities that they can defend their rights and express their opinions. Through group activities and one-on-one lessons, our clients develop social skills, augment physical coordination and acquire cognitive abilities that aid the child with academics and vocational training.
