Amnesty International is a worldwide grassroots group of more than 1.5 million members in more than 150 countries and territories in every region of the world. In the United States, there are 1,850 local and student chapters with more than 330,000 members.
In 1977, Amnesty International won the Nobel Peace Prize for "contribut(ing) to securing ground for freedom, for justice, and thereby also for peace in the world."
Kurdish Achievers gives students at Vandy the chance to interact with pre-college Kurdish youth. Activities include SAT/ACT prep, social activities and a host of other things.
Other campaigns and programs, from benefit concerts to parties to community service around "amnesty issues" of interest.
