About [Edit]
Our mission
FCI seeks to ensure that women and adolescents have access to the high-quality information and services they need to improve their sexual and reproductive health, experience safe pregnancy and childbirth, and avoid unwanted pregnancy and HIV infection.
Our priorities
FCI works within the comprehensive, rights-based approach to sexual and reproductive health endorsed by the international community at UN conferences over the past decade. We focus on the following program areas:
* Adolescent sexual and reproductive health, to equip young people with information, skills, and confidence to enjoy healthy and productive lives, free of unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.
* Safe motherhood, to ensure that women have access to the services and support they need to go through pregnancy and childbirth safely.
* HIV/AIDS, to prevent the spread of HIV and to advocate for greater integration of HIV/AIDS prevention, testing, and treatment services with other sexual and reproductive health programs.
Within these three focus groups, our work also addresses other urgent reproductive health priorities, such as unsafe abortion, gender violence, and unmet needs for family planning.
How we work
FCI advances sexual and reproductive health and rights at the global, regional, and country levels through:
* Strengthening national and international commitment to people-centered policies and programs, and encouraging action through the exchange of information and experience.
* Building the capacity of local partners in Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean to design, implement, and evaluate national strategies and model programs.
* Developing information and training materials that partners can use to improve the quality of their services and strengthen reproductive and sexual health programs.
