About  [Edit]

Our Mission

• Offers educational programs that link people and communities to nature

• Purchases, receives or monitors land for habitat

• salmon enhancement, salmonids in the classroom.

Our Society has a hatchery site located in Ravine Park in central Abbotsford next to Willband Creek. We involve students in every aspect of what we do - from a high school construction class building our hatchery building, to a local youth ecoworks crew capturing our springs, to youth at risk crews working on our pond, to a large Salmonids in the Classroom Program through 40+ schools. Our hatchery is their 'live classroom'. Abbotsford Senior Secondary is located adjacent to the hatchery and has work experience students helping us with our projects and monitoring the Coho salmon every year. The school is in the process of developing a course on fisheries & wildlife next year to be held in our hatchery's meeting/classroom. The Society has several public PR events each year as well, and the media coverage and community support for our efforts has been great!
