About  [Edit]

We are working with people in arid lands to improve the quality of their lives and environment and the productivity of their land.

Sunseed Tanzania Trust is a small UK based registered charity. We work with local partners in Dodoma and Mbeya regions of Tanzania. Our main project is the Domestic Energy Project which aims to improve women and children's health as well as help tackle deforestation and desertification in the arid region of Dodoma. We are introducing the low-cost appropriate technologies of heat retention cookers (hay baskets / boxes) and fuel-efficient mud stoves which help people use less wood for cooking and suffer less damage to their health from exposure to smoke. We are also introducing tree-planting in woodlots to harvest sustainably for fuel so that women do not have to walk so far to collect wood and carry heavy loads home.
