Mission
Sierra Youth Coalition is a national, youth driven, and diverse non-profit organization working in Canada. Through grassroots action, SYC aims to address globalization, consumption, and climate change through a solutions based approach of promoting education for sustainability, bioregionalism, sustainable communities, and lifestyle simplicity.
Objectives
The Sierra Youth Coalition, in each of our program areas, strives to achieve the following objectives:
Involve: empower youth in Canada to become active members of their community;
Educate: create a widespread understanding that all things are connected;
Change: challenge unjust and unsustainable systems by using a solutions based approach; and to
Invoke Seven Generations: ensure that the voices of future generations are clearly heard by decision-makers.

Ontario Teachers Pension Plan
Are you a teacher, a student, or a concerned citizen who wants to ensure change in the OTPP? Do you want to help ensure that the Plan invests in a healthy future for everybody? This website outlines easy steps that we can all take. Together we can make a difference.
Energy and Climate Change
The Sierra Youth Coalition, through its Energy and Climate Change program, seeks to put an end to unsustainable energy projects while promoting and demanding the transition to a society based on clean and renewable energy sources.
Environmental Justice
It is the overarching goal of SYC`s Environmental Justice project to support and partner with local groups in providing education to Canadian youth about environmental racism and oppressions. We believe that change comes from within, and therefore, believe that if diversity within the environmental movement is going to be achieved then diversity and respect within our programs and campaigns must first be addressed. Specifically, we seek to:
Research into documenting Environmental Justice issues across the country
Coordinate and organize events for environmental justice day - March 21st, 2005
Consumption
It is the goal of the SYC Consumption campaign to educate Canadians on responsible consumption choices. We wish to provide concrete alternatives that focus on the quality, not the quantity of life.
Trade and the Environment
The Sierra Youth Coalition Trade and Environment campaign seeks to put an end to trade systems that jeopardize the world`s population and to promote systems that encourage respect and sustainability. In the next year we are looking to do research into the environmental impacts of NAFTA on Canadian communities while concurrently researching the impacts around the world. As we enter in 2005, a critical year for the WTO Agreement and the FTAA, we will be mobilizing to educate Canadians towards the impact of such agreements.
