About [Edit]
Sustainable Living Center Helps to make our region ecologically and economically self-sustainable through education and partnerships.
In 2002, we formed the Northwest Renewable Energy Festival. The first two years, we held the Festival on the Whitman College grounds; the next two years we held the Festival at the Walla Walla County Fairgrounds. Many people came from out of the area (Portland, Seattle, Spokane, Boise, etc) to enjoy our three-day affair. In 2005, we wrote and received a grant from the Washington State Dept. of Ecology to extend the concept of educating the public regarding renewable energy to educating the public regarding sustainable living all year long. Hence, the idea for the Sustainable Living Center was born.
