About [Edit]
The Global Youth Action Network (GYAN) is a youth-led not-for-profit organization that acts as an incubator of global partnerships among youth organizations. Registered in New York, Paris, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Ghana and Colombia, GYAN maintains offices and teams in several countries.OUR MISSION is to facilitate youth participation and intergenerational partnership in global decision-making; to support collaboration among diverse youth organizations; and to provide tools, resources, and recognition for positive youth action
OUR VISION: GYAN believes that the critical issues facing the planet now demand our attention and commitment; and that if we are to solve these problems in our life, then we must act, and combine our efforts to guarantee a future of peace, justice and sustainability.
in partnership with TakingITGlobal, we have created the most active shared resource database for youth on the Internet, listing organizations, events and countless other resources.
Among GYAN's Key Programs:
- Global Youth Service Day, in collaboration with Youth Service America: the world's largest annual celebration of young volunteers. Get involved in the celebrations, held each April in over 100 countries
- Global Youth Action Awards, providing US1,000 to the best youth-initiated projects that are improving their communities and our world
- Youth Participation, helping to increase and facilitate youth voices in global decision-making, particularly at the United Nations, where GYAN holds Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council
- Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GYCA), an incubated program that connects and empowers the work of thousands of youth activists, organizers and peer educators around the world
