About  [Edit]

Since 2001, the Mid Klamath Watershed Council (MKWC) has been working to restore the threatened Klamath River in Northern California, and the upslope habitats upon which the river depends.

The Klamath River and its tributaries, including the Salmon and Trinity rivers, have some of the largest remaining wild salmon runs in the lower 48 States and holds the promise of significant ecological improvement through restoration programs.

MKWC’s programs in the Middle Klamath subbasin include Watershed Education, Invasive Weed Management, Monitoring, Riparian Restoration, Fire and Fuels, Water Conservation, Roads, Fisheries, and Native Plants.

The MKWC Community Watershed and Information Center in Orleans, California is home to our office, the Orleans Somes Bar Fire Safe Council, the Klamath-Salmon Media Collaborative, and the Klamath-Salmon Natural History Library.  Please stop by and check us out!
