About [Edit]
Survivors and Advocates for Empowerment, Inc. (SAFE), formerly a program of the DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence, serves 4,000 survivors of intimate partner violence every year at the District of Columbia's two Domestic Violence Intake Centers.
SAFE offers crisis intervention, court and law enforcement-based advocacy, and short-term case management services to clients based on a model of client-defined advocacy. Advocates partner with domestic violence survivors to provide the information and resources that clients need to navigate the civil and criminal justice systems safely on their own.
SAFE's services are rooted in an active, collaborative process. Survivors define their own needs and make their own decisions based upon the information provided by their advocate. Our advocates recognize that each client has unique and individual needs that are best addressed through empowerment.
