About [Edit]
The mission of the California Native Plant Society is to increase understanding and appreciation of California's native plants, and to preserve them in their natural habitat through scientific activites, education, and conservation.
The Monterey Bay California Native Plant Society is a member of a statewide non-profit organization of amateurs and professionals with a common interest in California’s native plants. We seek to understand and enjoy our native flora, and to preserve this rich and diverse resource for future generations.
Rowntree Garden
We are a small, dedicated group that has tended an acre plus of land from the City of Carmel as a demonstration garden for California native plants for 25 years.
The Beach Garden Project provides an opportunity to participate in hands-on, native plant restoration in the spectacular Monterey Bay Dunes. Created in 1992, the project has expanded year after year, involving thousands of volunteers in the yearly cycle of seed collection, propagation, outplanting, and weeding. The Monterey Dunes are regaining their original splendor as the non-native iceplant is controlled, and a broad diversity of blooming native species are planted.
