Objectives: It aims to: (1) facilitate contact and exchange among lawyers in order to develop a spirit of mutual understanding and fraternity; (2) encourage study of legal science and international law; (3) support democratic principles favorable to maintenance of peace and cooperation between nations; and (4) promote independence of all peoples and oppose any restriction thereof, whether by legislation or practice.



Activities: Activities of the IADL include: (1) research on legal problems; (2) study and practice of the principles of democracy making for the maintenance of peace and cooperation between nations; and (3) defense and development of democratic rights and liberties in legislation and in the practice of law. The IADL is frequently involved in missions to countries where human rights are systematically violated; members also act as trial observers. The IADL organizes conferences and issues press releases. Research is carried out by specialists who give their time freely.
