ASSOCIATION “FOR SUSTAINABLE HUMAN DEVELOPMENT”

            Foundation of the Association.

            Association was founded on January 30, 1996 (the initiative group worked from 1995) and registered by the Ministry of Justice RA on April 22, 1996. According the new law of RA about the NGO, reregistered at December 20, 2000, registration number 1804. The Co-ordination Council consists of 21 members. They include representatives of a number of public organisations (Armenian Geographical Society, Armenian Republican Women's Union, The League of Armenian Women, the Fund against the Law Arbitrariness, The Scientists Union, Armenian Statistical Computer Society,) as well as individuals specialising in different fields of know­ledge: ecologists, geographers, chemists, economists, psychologists, wri­ters, journalists, engineers, etc.

            Six commissions work in Association: environmental, economic, on social issues, on democracy issues, on human rights, on educational and spiritual-psychological issues, information and international relations.

The check-up committee consist of three members.

Association has nine  branches in different regions of RA.

 

            The Mission of organisation.

            Topropagate and spread the main ideas, principles and values system of Sustainable  Development Concept (SDC), to assist in founding of the National Council on SD and in elaboration and putting into practice the Concept and Program of Sustainable Development of Armenia.

 

 

International co-operation and participation in coalitions

               IN June 2001 Association received the Status of UNEP National Committee

In July 2004 Association received the Status of NGO associated with UN DPI.

In May 2005 Association received  accreditation to UNEP Governing Council.

In July 2006 Association received the Consultative status to ECOSOC (UN Economical and Social Commission).

Association is a member of Social-Ecological Union (SEU), ANPED, Pan-European Eco-Forum, UN/NGO Regional Network for Eastern Europe & CIS.

                Association co-works with UN DESA, UNDP, UNEP, UN NGLS, CEE Bankwatch Network, USAID, TACIS, Earth Charter International Commission, WEDO, National Assembly  of RA, Ministry of Nature Protection RA, Municipality  of Yerevan, Centre of Constitutional Rights and others.
