About [Edit]
![]() | PROTECTING OUR FORESTSSierra Pacific Industries (SPI) owns approximately 48% of the forested property above the 3,500-foot elevation in Calaveras County. Documents filed with California Department of Forestry (CDF) show that SPI intends to clear-cut two- thirds of their property over 80 years. In the Summer of 2000, SPI obtained permission from the California Department of Forestry to begin clear-cutting 884 acres in the San Antonio Creek watershed near the Calaveras Big Trees State Park. The clear-cuts were completed by 2002. Since then SPI has continued clear-cutting next to Big Trees State Park. Ebbetts Pass Forest Watch organized to oppose SPI's forest harvest practice of clear-cutting. Saving our forests is hard work. If you are interested in helping preserve forests and watersheds please learn more and join us.
