About  [Edit]

Lumanti Support Group for Shelter is a non-government organisation dedicated to the alleviation of urban poverty in Nepal through the improvement of shelter conditions. At Lumanti, shelter means the whole living environment, therefore, Lumanti`s activities are wide-ranging. They include shelter upgrades, micro-finance, education and children`s programmes, good governance, gender equity and advocacy.

Lumanti works in 68 slum and squatter communities throughout Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Thimi facilitating three programmes :

1. The Urban Community Empowerment Programme [supported by Action Aid Nepal]

2. Water and Sanitation Programme [supported by Water Aid Nepal].

3. Support for Displaced Poor Urban Communities [supported by Ockenden International].

Lumanti`s Vision...

The urban poor are living in improved shelter and socio-economic conditions, with increased self-dignity.
