The W. Garfield Weston Foundation is a private Canadian charitable foundation committed to making grants in Canada for the benefit of Canadians.



The Foundation currently directs its funds primarily to two areas:

* EDUCATION

Through a one-time grant of $15 million to the Ontario Science Centre, the Foundation has funded the Weston Family Innovation Centre, an area that will foster a greater understanding of science and technology among Canada`s youth.



In participation with the Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation, the Foundation provides the most generous scholarships in the country at the undergraduate university and college levels through the Canada-wide Garfield Weston Merit Scholarship. We also fund tuition-assistance grants to students wishing to attend independent elementary schools in Ontario, through Children First: School Choice Trust.



* ENVIRONMENT

The Foundation focuses its environment-related grants on significant land conservation projects, in partnership with the The Nature Conservancy of Canada.
