Mission

Foodbank Australia is a not for profit,non denominational and national charity organisation, operating in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

Our main aim is to seek food and grocery donations from manufacturers, wholesalers,agents etc,to sort the food at our warehouses, store and handle the food professionally and safely,and to make the product available, for a minimal handling fee, to the 1500 accredited welfare agencies that we service across the nation.

The evidence is largely hidden, but the facts confirm that the need is growing, particularly amongst the working poor and the elderly. In one of the richest economies in the world this is deplorable.

Last year Foodbank distributed 10 million kilograms of donated food, which met only a part of the need. Foodbank’s target for 2010 is 20 million kilograms, which we hope will bring us closer to achieving our vision of an Australia without hunger.
