The Association of French Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War AMFPGN was founded in 1984 and affiliated to International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War in January 1985.
The international association has 200 000 members in 80 countries and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985 for « considerable service to mankind by spreading authoritative information and in creating an awareness of the catastrophic consequences of atomic warfare ».
