About us
“Global Vision International promotes sustainable solutions for a rapidly changing world by matching you, the general public, with international environmentalists, researchers and pioneering educators.”
Global Vision International was formed in 1998 to provide support and services to international charities, non profits and governmental agencies. Through our international network of 40 personnel in over 20 countries GVI continues to support many of the most critical conservation and humanitarian projects around the globe.
GVI is a non-political, non-religious organisation, which through its alliance with aid-reliant organisations throughout the world provides opportunities to Volunteers to fill a critical void in the fields of environmental research, conservation, education and community development. To date over 1500 volunteers have joined projects resulting in the direct financial support of over UK£500,000 / US $750,000.
Mission Statement
To promote the advancement of sustainable development through the creation of partnerships, promotion of local and global education opportunities and via direct financial support.
We accomplish these three primary objectives by:
1.Partnerships: Long term partnerships with our local partners are GVI’s main priority. We work very closely with all our local partners to ensure the development of a GVI program to match their individual needs. All requirements are different and as such are reflected in the variety of GVI programs on offer.
2.Education: Through GVI funded host country sponsorship programs and the commitment to recruitment from within local human resources, GVI remains committed to local education. Global education of conservation and community development issues is of vital importance and is primarily achieved through the creation of “ambassadors” or ex GVI volunteers / expedition members. A GVI program is designed to train people from all over the world to take part in global education and conservation programs and not only to allow participants to make a difference but to come away as educated ambassadors for the critical issues facing conservation and community development today.
3.Economic Support: To date GVI has supplied over US$1,000,000 / UK£750,000 to its partners around the world. Either through direct financial contributions or via scientific support in the terms of program development GVI matches all the important elements of sustainable development for its partners.
“The aims, methodologies, results and research rights belong with the organisations we support” Richard Walton, Director, Global Vision International 1st June 1998
Unlike other organisations, Global Vision International remains committed to our local partners by ensuring they receive full credit for any research undertaken or achievements reached. We do not rely or seek funding from external sources which would necessitate the removal of vital research from host countries. It is our belief that research rights and success should stay with our host country partners allowing them to succeed in the fields they have established and will remain in for life.
