About [Edit]
Abaana's goal is not just to help children in Africa. It is to challenge our way of life. To look at ourselves and our walk with God.
Our current projects are:
Clean Water Supplies
Water is one of the most important elements in life (apart from oxygen). We can go without food for a long time but without water the body will be in trouble after a matter of days. What happens in a country where your water supply is of poor standard.
Medical Centre
In March 2004 we opend the medical Centre which we built in Uganda. Over the next few year we will continue to fund the centre and help develope it as it continues to help many people suffering from various diseases from Aids to Malaria.
Mpata School
Over the next 2-3 years we are going to raise £100,000 to 'transform' Mpata Primary in Mukono, Uganda. The school currently has around 90 students. The new school will cater for 300-400 children and be one of the leading schools in the area.
Child Sponsorship
Abaana has been running a child sponsorship scheme now since 1997. We currently sponsor just over 100 children from Uganda, East Africa. Our sponsorship scheme works in Uganda in partnership with an Irish charity 'Fields of Life'.
The vision is to see young people stand up and say, we are not the church of tomorrow! We are the church of today. Young people that will stand up and set an example to a materialistic world. An army of mercenaries that will care more about the fact that millions are dying with AIDS, than building a C.D collection. Who care more about clothing the naked, than the label they wear. Who care more about the starving than their craving for a full stomach. I have a vision that young people will stand for the Biblical truths where other generations have failed. When they are told to sit down and shut up, they will stand up, and be heard. When others say, “It is not your problem”, they will ask, “Then who’s is it?” Young people that will take the initiative and live for Christ now. They will say “I am not too young, to Make a difference.” Young people who will have the boldness of the Old Testament prophets and the compassion of Jesus. Young people who are not afraid to cry for injustice, to live for Christ, and know that to Die is Gain. Young people who would lay down their life for those who are lost.
I have a vision that young people will be committed, to fight even if they don’t think they can win. That they will stand at all costs, and never retreat. They will love, because they are loved. They will give because they have received. They will intercede for those with no voice. They will cry for those with no tears, They will carry those with no strength. They will lift those that fall and give hope to the hopeless. They will share the Gospel through hands that feed Lepers and show compassion through tear-stained eyes. They will not be ashamed to hug the homeless or hold hands with the rejected, or to love the loveless.
