Operation Peace through Unity (OPTU) was co-founded in Sweden 1975 by Gita and Anthony Brooke and is now a Charitable Trust based in New Zealand. It is a non-governmental organization with United Nations Department of Public Information accreditation. OPTU envisions a closer working relationship between peoples and their governments in a joint commitment to create together a culture of peace, within and between nations, cultures and peoples, which is based on understanding and respect for all our differences within one Creation.

OPTU cooperates with others for a reformed and more democratic United Nations.

OPTU joins the campaign for establishing a Ministry for Peace within the government of each nation, which would greatly assist the development of partnerships between peoples and governments and help create a closer link between “we, the peoples” and the United Nations.

OPTU co-founder, Anthony Brooke, former Rajah Muda of Sarawak, held the vision of a culture of peace when, at the end of WWII, he fought for the rights of the voice of Sarawak’s peoples to be heard in the forming of their own future.

Through extensive travelling, and a quarterly publication “"Many to Many"., a network of cooperation on common goals has been established.

The basic philosophy of Peace through Unity is simple:

We believe that humanity and all other forms of life live and move and have their being within a greater ever evolving whole.

We believe life is imbued with meaning and purpose.

We believe in the essential goodness in the heart of humanity and that we are all learning, through cause and effect, to express this in all relationships.

Through understanding, respecting and celebrating all our different cultures, religions and ways of life we will, as the next step in evolution, be uniting beyond all these differences in a culture of peace –- a culture of Heart.
