About  [Edit]

The mission of Zion Canyon Field Institute is to educate and inspire local, national and international visitors to the greater Zion National Park ecosystem and environment through intensive and innovative classes that immerse visitors in the field. These 1, 2, and 3-day classes provide visitors unique opportunities to investigate the vast natural and cultural resources of the park and its surrounds. Visiting instructors expert in science, the humanities, and the arts will emphasize learning through adventurous hands-on exploration.

From the ZCFI Director:

I would like to welcome you to the 2007 season of the non-profit Zion Canyon Field Institute, located in Zion National Park. We offer outdoor education programs for adults that take place at Zion and at Cedar Breaks National Monument. Participants in recent classes have helped archaeologists find ancient artifacts, have watched mule deer bucks lock antlers, and have photographed a rainbow over the West Temple. ZCFI offers adults unique opportunities like these to learn from experts in a magnificent educational setting. Join us for part of your vacation or all of it. And consider helping out on one of our service-learning projects where the group performs a project to benefit the park. ZCFI course fees help make service projects, teacher training, and school field trips possible. See you in the field!
