About  [Edit]

Med_ewlogo

Earthworks is a volunteer group of ordinary people who meet every 2 or 3 weeks to carry out practical conservation work. It`s a mixed group of men and women who regularly attend, but we are always on the lookout for new members. Earthworks is affiliated to the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers [BTCV].

The type of work we do is varied and depends on teh site itself and the time of year. Constructional tasks like building boardwalks or stiles tend to dominate during the summer months, with more traditional crafts like hedgelaying and coppicing in the winter months. Earthworks has several regular sites where we work, but we do try to vary each new task programme with one or two new ones. Though most are in Bucks, we do have outings further afield a couple of times a year. Some sites are managed by national organisations, for example the RSPB or Woodland Trust. The group also meets up socially from time to time.
