About  [Edit]

Reconnecting America will work toward removing the barriers that prevent our different transportation modes – planes, trains, autos and buses, as well as walking and bicycling – from functioning as one convenient interconnected network. We will also focus on reinventing the planning and delivery system for building regions and communities around transit and walking rather than solely around the automobile. Toward this end, Reconnecting America has undertaken two programs:

Reconnecting America’s Transportation Networks, which seeks to link our separate aviation, rail and intercity bus systems into an integrated network in order to improve economic productivity, enhance consumer choice and value, and improve environmental performance and energy efficiency.

The Center for Transit-Oriented Development, which seeks to use transit investments to spur a new wave of development that improves housing affordability and choice, revitalizes downtowns and urban and suburban neighborhoods, and provides value capture and recapture for individuals, communities and transportation agencies.
