About  [Edit]

The U.S. Green Building Council's Northern California Chapter is a diverse group of USGBC members in a region active in and receptive to progressive sustainable building goals.

The chapter's mission is to create a regional organization recognized as the primary source for education, information exchange, programs and events to stimulate a sustainable and, ultimately, restorative built environment.

The USGBC-NCC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, incorporated in the State of California. The leadership team consists of a seven member board of directors who oversee chapter policy, along with a steering committee that contributes to the development and operation of the chapter's committees.

Core Purpose:

The U.S. Green Building Council's core purpose is to transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life.

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is the nation’s foremost coalition of leaders from every sector of the building industry working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work. Our more than 6,000 member organizations work together to develop a variety of programs and services, and forge strategic alliances with key industry and research organizations and federal, state and local government agencies. Our collective power is leading the transformation of the building industry and market to sustainability. Council programs are Committee-Based, Member-Driven, and Consensus-Focused.
