About [Edit]
The services offered by the YWCA provide support and encouragement to help our residents move toward personal well being, confidence and independence.
The YWCA offers counseling and legal services at affordable rates to the community
The YWCA San Diego is proud to host several community participation events throughout the year. This is a major source of the YWCA’s annual funding as well as an opportunity to bring awareness to issues at the root of helping women and their families to become strong, productive and healthy members of our community.
All of our events require the assistance and teamwork of committees, sponsors, staff members and myriad numbers of people dedicated to making these events successful, inspiring, and engaging.
In 1907, the San Diego YWCA created the first women’s employment bureau, the first adult education classes and fought for improved working conditions for women. In 1978, we established San Diego’s first domestic violence shelter. For 26 years we have focused our programs to serve homeless women and families, as well as women and children who are victimized by domestic violence.
Today, the YWCA’s programs serve the needs of 25,000 individuals annually through domestic violence services, residential programs, legal services, and counseling.
