About  [Edit]

With the current protests inside Burma (see BBC website), we have established a small committee - Youth Solidarity of Burma - to do fund raising for the brave monks and others inside Burma. We started our committee with 7000 baht (US$ 220) on 25 September 2007. Our main aim is to support basic needs for the brave protesters such as food, drinking water, medicine and robes, meanwhile letting them know that we are with them.

Our names are Su Su and Hay Mar Soe. We are both Burmese, and active campaigers for human rights and democracy in Burma. There are other members of our small committee - Youth Solidarity of Burma - which we set up in September 2007 to support those people protesting inside Burma.

Su Su

I was born in Burma and my father is a political prisoner inside Burma. I have been working with Burmese groups in exile most of my time. I want to do anything I can to support these protesters in this difficult situation. The reason for establishing committee is to support our brave protesters inside Burma and letting them know that we (independent young people) are with them and strongly support their peace protesting. Meanwhile we are proving the dictatorship government that these individual young citizens can live "Free from Torturing each other". You contact me directly at susu@givetoburma.org.

Hay Mar Soe

I am HayMar Soe. I am twenty-two years old. Currently I am in Thailand as a student. I come from a very simple Burmese family. I don't have any political background. Since I heard about the peaceful demonstrations in my country I have been thinking about what can be done to support the brave monks and people. I believe we have a responsibility to our country to help liberate this generation. That is why we decided to set up this committee. You contact me directly at haymarsoe@givetoburma.org.

If you have any questions, you can email Su Su and Hay Mar Soe individually on the email addresses above, or you can email them both at the same time at info@givetoburma.org. They will both receive a copy of your email.

How your donation will be used...

As we are a small group based in Northern Thailand, we have local contacts who will transfer the money safely inside Burma. These funds will be used for essential supplies (medicines, food, drinking water, robes).

  • We guarantee that to the best of our abilities, 100% of the funds you donate will reach the people who most need help inside Burma (after PayPal take their small transaction fee).
  • We guarantee that to the best of our abilities, none of these funds will be used to support violent or aggressive action of any kind

We will keep reliable records, along with payment vouchers and receipts when the money is transferred to the receivers inside Burma.

The following organisations and individuals have agreed to put their names to this website to show their support. As this website has been put together at very short notice (in 24 hours!), we haven't been able to get lots of endorsements right now but we expect this list to grow.
