About [Edit]
The relationship between the built and natural worlds must be sustainable. The EDC believes designers should pioneer this relationship. The EDC seeks to educate and inspire University of Oregon design students to have the awareness, sensitivity, and expertise to lead the community toward sustainability. While the EDC's focus is in the design disciplines, we welcome interested students and community members of all fields.
our mission is to:
Advocate for an interdisciplinary ecological design curriculum for AAA students,
Cultivate networking opportunities for AAA students with professionals practicing sustainable design of the built environment,
Create a forum for ecological design dialogue through the HOPES conference, traditional and digital publications, and on-going events,
Advocate for and implement ecological planning and design on the University of Oregon campus and Eugene community.

Designers are a key to looking to the future. The design challenge is always reliant on a clear and insightful design brief from a client group. Where are the client groups that can bring the future into a clear brief. Combining the legal structures of medium to high density living with finance and investors, with efficient centralised energy and utilities distribution and then extending to IT and communications, to a management desk that is wellness focused not only on the building but particularly on the residents. I have a passion to bring new levels of affordability into the new generation sustainable buildings for our communities with an emphasis on wellness.
I believe that the challenges of writing a 21st century design brief is limited to the experience of a very few people. It is particularly complex as it must remodel the legal and ownership structures of the past and envisage how finance and ownership from Institutional providers will emerge. Past this point it relies on centralised management distribution of building resources and utilities with an emphasis on information and communications. Equitable design for people with disabilities, universal design concepts and of course the building resident carers especially at the front desk that in the past was focused on building management and rental payments in the future will be directed to an emphasis on wellness for everyone and thing.
kind regards,
Trevor
