Tamera is a cooperative of people who work for a future without war. The intention is to build a model for a nonviolent culture. Tamera is a research settlement where the most important themes of a new, sustainable culture concept are developed. Tamera is located on 134 ha land in the south of Portugal, about 20 km away from the west coast .

The establishment of functioning communities is probably the most exciting and rewarding research project that can be undertaken in this day and age and it is central to Tamera`s research. Living and practicing the art of community awakens a great potential for power and love that lies within us: this is the source of a new power for peace. The tasks and questions that arise in today`s world are too complex to be fully seen or understood, let alone answered, by isolated individuals. It is not just the challenges we are facing which need communication and community, but the health of our souls as well - this demands human interconnectedness and solidarity .

The Technology Project of Tamera does practical and theoretical work. Regarding the practise we firstly deal with the areas of energy supply and water. In this area we want to build up two models of an autonomous energy settlement "Solar Power Village", in cooperation with a research company, that are possible without the products of large industries and have mainly a model character for countries of the third world. In the framework of water research we are planning a model for nature friendly cleaning of our waster water and the regeneration of drinking water. Regarding theory we deal with approaches of a new vision and understanding of the  world .

Tamera is supposed to become a Healing Biotope of plants, animals and human beings. The ecology team is working on installing acupuncture points in the terrain in the form of "evergreen oasis". Starting from these oasis the terrain shall be ecologically sanitised and vitalised. Food biotopes for the future self-supply are being built; the work in Findhorn, the "Cooperation with Nature" of Eike Braunroth and his student Jürgen Paulick guide us thereby, as well as a perma-culture according to the model of Sepp Holzer. "Edible landscapes", forest gardens, wet biotopes and ponds as well as a peace garden will emerge. Parts of the terrain will be redesigned into park and forest landscapes; creeks shall be re-naturalised and supported to flow all year long .

 

 

Peace Research Center Tamera – Retrospection 2008 :

The Peace Research Center Tamera in southern Portugal is steadily growing into its vision, fulfilling its intended goal to become a model of a regionally self-sufficient, ecologically and socially sustainable peace village, a center for the further education of young peace workers from all over the world, a place of retreat and a central point of the global peace movement, and an active helper in areas of crisis – in short, a platform for research and development for ecological, social and technological peace knowledge offering solutions for the future.

Monte Cerro Peace Education :

May 4th - August 15th 2009 :

Monte Cerro Peace Education" includes comprehensive studies in peace work and the creation of peace villages. At its core lies the knowledge about community and the development of trust, truth and transparency including the areas of love and sexuality. An essential part of the education is the study of the political theory of a global change through local actions.

Between Tamera and Patch Adams, there has been friendship and exchange for some years. We love him because of his big heart and his radical humanity. With his clown teams he has visited children in many world crisis areas. At places where others couldn’t see hope and therefore looked away, in destroyed villages and towns in Afghanistan, Iraq, Russia, Colombia and many other countries, he dared to bring games and joy - sometimes under tears. For many years he has been preparing a holistic healing institute in West Virginia.

USA - Network  Trip : Oct 5th - Nov 5th 08 :

In order to create an efficient network in the name of global peace, Vera Kleinhammes, her young son Mante, Monika Berghoff (Publisher, f.e. of "The Sacred Matrix" by Dieter Duhm) and Irma Knittel from Tamera were travelling through the US (mainly through California) from Oct. 5th through Nov. 5th, 2008.
