United Way Silicon Valley has conducted a comprehensive community needs assessment to identify the most urgent health and human service needs right here in our community. That research is guiding our new community impact strategy, which focuses on solving our most pressing community problems by addressing the underlying causes. Our community impact strategy focuses on two specific areas:

More than 400,000 people in Santa Clara County live below the level of self-sufficiency. United Way is helping people build capabilities that lead to self-sufficiency by supporting English fluency classes, employment training, education, and youth and early childhood development services, as well as fostering community leadership to strengthen neighborhoods

United Way and its partner agencies support people in crisis who need temporary assistance such as food, shelter, dependent care, or counseling when faced with loss of employment, serious illness, violence, substance abuse or grief.
