The Community Action Partnership of North Alabama is a human resources service agency committed to helping people, changing lives. The Partnership is a private 501-(c)3 non-profit organization, incorporated to assist limited income families in learning to utilize all available resources to obtain the skills, knowledge, services and opportunities necessary to become self-sufficient, productive citizens within their community.
Services
The Community Action Partnership of North Alabama's goal is to seek solutions to social and economic problems related to poverty. We are proud to be a key human resource provider for families in Morgan, Lawrence, Cullman, Franklin, Blount, Colbert, Marion and Winston Counties.
National Community Action Foundation NCAF
NCAF is the Washington advocate for the nation's Community Action Agencies.
In fulfillment of our mission we:
- Formulate and promote federal legislative and program initiatives to strengthen CAAs' ability to serve low-income clients and communities.
- Work with Members of Congress and members of the executive branches of federal and state governments to maintain funding and support for CAA programs and initiatives.
- Conduct research on national and state legislative and policy proposals affecting the poor as well as the impact of existing programs and policies.
- Collect, analyze and disseminate to a national audience recent experience and data from local Community Action programs.
- Supply information to federal, state and local officials, and other policy makers on CAA program operations and on the needs CAAs identify in their low-income communities.
- Serve as a liaison and coalition builder with allied national organizations.
- Coordinate the legal defense necessary to defend the interests of CAAs.
- Convene an annual legislative conference for CAAs as well as other issue-specific conferences.
- Provide training seminars on the history of the War on Poverty and on the workings of Congress.
