About [Edit]

The Natural Building Network is a not-for-profit membership association promoting natural building
principles, materials and practitioners worldwide. We support ecological
regeneration, social justice, the building of community and economic
opportunity, and the recognition of indigenous wisdom as essential in creating
healthy, beautiful, and spiritually-uplifting habitation for everyone.
“Natural Building is any building system which places the highest value on social and environmental sustainability. It assumes the need to minimize the environmental impact of our housing and other supporting systems while providing healthy, beautiful, comfortable and spiritually uplifting homes for everyone.” - Michael G. Smith

Natural Building Network is a resource of and for natural builders. Find builders, teachers, activists, students, apprentices, and more as well as up-to-date news of the natural building/permaculture community. NBN also has the most comprehensive workshop listings in natural building on the web. NBN is also a hub of information and activism for the natural building community. NBN works with code officials, elected representatives, architects, engineers, universities, colleges, businesses and organizations to support natural building opportunities worldwide.

I would like to learn how to construct buildings with Cobb Construction methods and other natural methods. This is a very interesting prospect to me. Do you have workshops that you do, or a building that you are building as a means of educating and demonstrating these techniques? Please contact me if I could get involved, and let me know!

Hi, Romano!
Since you're in Oregon, there is nothing better than the Village Building Convergence (VBC) in Portland. I think it is held in May each year. Also check out City Repair, also in Portland. They organize the VBC. If you ever get a chance to hear Mark Lakeman (City Repair founder) speak, do not pass it up! He is truly inspiring.
