About  [Edit]

Heart Politics

A growing number of people have been meeting twice yearly for nearly twenty years to explore issues that move them, ideas that inspire them, and the work they do for social change in Aotearoa, and beyond. Participants provide sounding boards for one another and the opportunity to deepen understanding, challenge blind spots, create networks, and draw from shared experiences.

Our diversity - age, background, opinions, interests, and cultures - adds richness to our network and gatherings. Heart Politics is a way of doing things: people creating together. Some Heart Politicians have been involved for years, some are finding their feet and some are yet to arrive. Please come to our gatherings and join us.

We meet at the Tauhara Retreat Centre, Taupo, a centre devoted to affirming personal, social and spiritual change. Using a technique using "Open Space", much of the content is drawn from those present, so there is plenty of choice of relevant activities. For recreation, the atmosphere is of discovery and creativity with the lake, the hot pools and music and entertainment from the group itself. Gatherings are fun, provocative, challenging and enlightening. Children and young people are welcome at the gathering with their participant parents.

Check out the new website for information about the gatherings:
